When SAD attacks

The last two weeks have been both horrible and unbelievably important. This all started when we were out of town for the weekend. We went out to dinner at a very nice restaurant and then back to our hotel room. I woke up at 2am and became violently sick, throwing up for 4 hours straight and incredible abdominal pain. After it passed, we assumed I had some kind of food poisoning and that it was over... Wrong! A few days later I again woke up at 2am with the same excruciating pain and this time it went on for over 8 hours. So after my first trip ever to the emergency room (fun), it was determined that I had a gallbladder attack and had gallstones.

I could not believe it! How could I, miss healthy eater, have something I thought only old and fat people got? Turns out I had unknowingly created the perfect storm for this to happen. My 20's were my worst eating and health years. Working retail, I lived on all kinds of fast food, Pepsi, coffee, and especially cheese. To top it off I had 12 years of birth control pills. Put all this together and my body spend about 14 years busily making liver / gallbladder stones to try and deal with my daily bad habits.

Now fast forward to 2008 when I seriously went vegan and began doing all kinds of cleanses which included large amounts of smoothies and even a juice feast right before the attack. Turns out you can be the victim of your own success. My detoxing and rapid weight loss was what triggered the stones to start moving. So my body was doing exactly what I asked it to do, clean house! I would never have imagined that gallstones would be part of my detox process. This just proves that our old bad eating habits don't just go away, they are trapped in our bodies and may come back in a very unpleasant way!

So all you young people out there who think that BigMac won't hurt you and that it will just magically go through your body are kidding yourselves. You cannot put garbage in your body without paying for it, either now or later. The body goes into an amazing survival mode when you abuse it and it will store all that fat, cholesteral, chemicals, and rancid oils away to deal with at another time. I was able to sucessfully flush the stones out, but that update will be on my next post. So for now, I have definately learned a valuable lesson once again. You are what you eat!

Day 15:) Again

Hello:) Today is day 15 and I successfully lived through a gallbladder flush..actually it wasn't that bad. Yes Kendra and I passed many dark green balls or marbles as she called hers, also some tan "items" and "sand". I did take pictures and am debating on posting them or not. Most were a little smaller than a penny, but 1 was much bigger than a penny (yes I compared them:). Kendra and I are looking forward to completing another flush in 3 weeks.. so I will keep all posted.

My weight is maintaining 143, but not shabby given the past few days haven't been exactly a walk in the park for my body. Hope all is well:)

Gallbladder Flush Under Way

Kendra and I have been preparing to do a Gallbladder Flush. We did several days of apple juice to help soften our stones and phosfood, I believe it is called to help do this as well. But tonight is the special night:) We drank one cup of salt/water mix, will do one more of those at 8pm..then time to get to business with the actual flush (grapefruit and olive oil-yum:). So I will let you know how this goes tomorrow.

Oh, and for me, juicing is going well. This is day 12 for me and I am at 144. It is that time of the month for me so I am retaining...whatever. I am excited about getting under 140. Should be by the end of this week or so.

Day 9- Back on the Juice

Hello All, or None:)

Dottie and I are officially back on the juice. In one week I have lost the weight I gained off the juice and then some. I am at 145.5lbs. Not shabby. I've read bits of Raw Emotions by Angela Stokes-Monarch and her Physical Changes book, as well as Juice Fasting & Detoxification. I think I am even more prepared this time.

So far what I have done differently is upping my greens majorly. I am up to 1-1 1/2 lbs of greens a day. I want to get up to at least 2 lbs a day.

Dottie started back on juicing Monday and is dealing with a lot of mucus right now, trying to get that cleared back out from what she was eating before Monday. Other than that she is doing well.

Initially our goal is 30 days, but like she said, we want to take it one week at a time.

Okay, that's all from me right now. Hope everyone is doing well.
